Applying a Working Paper Template

There are cover templates for Working Papers that can be applied in Microsoft Word. There are 4 templates available for each of the 6 topics.

Choose a template

  1. Determine which topic your Working Paper is about. The topics are:

    • Agrivoltaics
    • Alternative Energy Sources
    • Community & Indigenous Energy
    • Energy Policy
    • True Cost of Fossil Fuels
    • Other Works
  2. Go to the Working Paper Templates folder in OneDrive:

  3. Select the folder of your topic

  4. Download which template variant matches your needs based on the number of authors and if you plan to include an image on the cover.

Apply the template to your Working Paper

  1. Open your Working Paper in Microsoft Word.
  2. Open the template you downloaded in Microsoft Word.
  3. Fill out the template with your Working Paper's information (title, authors, date, etc.). Replace the image if applicable.
  4. Copy your Working Paper content and paste it into the template below the header.

If there are formatting issues when pasting

If you're stuck trying to endlessly format your content after pasting, undo the pasting and try merging the two documents with an online tool like SmallPDF instead. This will preserve the formatting of your Working Paper while applying the template to the first page.

Export the Working Paper as a PDF

Export your Working Paper with the naming scheme wp-XX-title-of-paper.pdf where XX is the number of the Working Paper. For example, if your Working Paper is number 23 and titled "The Future of Solar Energy", the file name should be wp-23-the-future-of-solar-energy.pdf.

Add the Working Paper to the website

Once your Working Paper is ready, you can follow the instructions in Adding a Working Paper to add it to the website.
